This Notice gives advance notification to the market that Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) will release a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the supply of Medical Officer Services and Relates Services to Ara Poutama Aotearoa’s prison health centres.
The Department is seeking the supply of Medical Officer Services and Related Services to Ara Poutama Aotearoa prison health centres. The Services will:
• Provide health care to all people in our care in prisons, both male and female. This includes infants of female prisoners up until 2 years of age in emergency situations only (care for infants who are in Mothers and Babies units is provided by general practitioners in the community).
• Services will cover all Ara Poutama Aotearoa managed prisons
• Be delivered by registered medical practitioners
The RFP will not include the supply of:
• Direct employment of Medical Officers
• General medical services delivered outside of the prison
• Any other health services (Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Secondary or Tertiary Health Care)
• General medical services delivered to people on community sentences or orders
• Prescription and non-prescription Pharmaceutical products
• Non-Pharmaceutical products
• Nursing Staff
• Medical services for staff
The proposed contract term is up to 3 years with up to one right of renewal for up to a further two years.
The RFP will be released via the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS) in late June/early July 2022.
Any responses or information provided to Ara Poutama Aotearoa at this stage will not be considered. Ara Poutama Aotearoa will not, in general, enter into any communications regarding the nature of this opportunity before the publication of the RFP.
