Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) is seeking the supply of Medical Officer Services and Related Services to Ara Poutama Aotearoa to Prison health centres.

Ara Poutama Aotearoa wishes to hear from suppliers who can:

• Provide general medical and primary care services to all people in prison, both male and female.
This includes infants of female prisoners up until 2 years of age in emergency situations only (care for infants who are in Mothers
and Babies units, is provided by general practitioners in the community).

• Medical Officer Services and Related Services are required at the following
Prison sites:

Auckland Regional Women’s Corrections Facility
Mount Eden Corrections Facility
Auckland Prison
Spring Hill Corrections Facility
Waikeria Prison
Hawke’s Bay Regional Prison
Rimutaka Prison
Rolleston Prison
Christchurch Women’s Prison
Christchurch Men’s Prison

• Medical Officer Services and Related Services must be delivered by registered general practitioners


The RFP will not include the supply of:

• Employed of Medical Officers
• General medical services delivered outside of the prison
• Any other health services (Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Secondary or Tertiary Health Care)
• General medical services delivered to people on community sentences or orders
• Prescription and non-prescription Pharmaceutical products
• Non-Pharmaceutical products
• Medical services for the Buyer’s staff
