Waikato District Council is the local government authority for the Waikato District. The Waikato District Council area is made up of a mix of towns, villages and settlements with a geographic area of 418,893 hectares and a population of 75,300 and this is projected to grow to 88,200 by 2031 (Open Waikato). It is a diverse, predominantly rural district with urban centres in Huntly, Ngaaruawaahia, Pokeno, Raglan, Te Kauwhata and Tuakau. Our head office is based in Ngaaruawaahia, North Waikato or any of our area offices (Raglan, Tuakau, Huntly and Te Kauwhata). Our Council and our staff work in partnership with other councils, local and central government agencies and a wide range of other organisations as well as with the community. Waikato District Council has adopted some ambitious targets through its Long-Term Plan - 2018-2028. A vision to create liveable, thriving and connected communities with the following themes being our guideposts for working with you to plan and build the district we want to have in 2028.
• Support our communities,
• Build our economy,
• Sustain our environment
• Value for money and
• Working together.
The key objective of this procurement is to engage a competent and experienced contractor to develop and continue the recreational walking facility around Lake Rotokauri. The objective of providing further access around Lake Rotokauri allows further community access within nature, another aim is to provide access for restoration within the lakes Boundaries.
The technical specifications for this walkway include granular path/trail, earthworks with challenging accessibility, timber boardwalk, and single span bridges.
We are seeking to appoint a motivated contractor to deliver this project with a focus on value for money while not compromising on quality, whilst having the necessary care and consideration of the environment the walkway is being constructed in.
