Waikato District Council is seeking an experienced supplier with previous footbridge experience to design and build Waikato District Councils Newstead Walkway Timber Bridge. The existing Newstead walkway bridge which has been structurally damaged. The bridge has been deemed to be unsafe and critical for repair.
Scope of works include:
• Partial demolition, design, construction and certification of a new timber pedestrian ridge.
• Repairing an existing timber walkway by replacing the section located above the stream where a longer span is required.
The chosen contractor must:
• Provide all design documentation (including design drawings, PS1, and associated calculations)
• Prepare and submit the consent exemption application
• Provide PS3 and PS4 construction documentation
• Undertake all surveying and construction work required for the new walkway.
• Complete partial repairs to the walkway within 1 metre of each end of the new bridge.
• Minimise adverse impacts to the river and surrounding environment.
• Complete the delivery of physical works by the end of June 2026.
