The University of Canterbury (UC) is looking for your help to offer a technical solution to a children’s speech transcribe problem.
UC is looking to procure an Automated Transcription Solution for the Child Well-being Research Institute (CWBI) Better Start Literacy Approach (BSLA) assessment. Our requirement is for a solution that will automatically and accurately transcribe children’s speech.
The speech produced is the retelling of a story, which is captured on an existing web-based assessment platform (www.betterstartassessment.com). The platform captures the audio of a teacher and a child completing the retelling of the story. The website compresses the retelling into an m4a audio file, which is available for download from the website. The audio files are 1-3 minutes in length and are of 5-year-old children producing a retell of one or two stories, with their teacher supporting them to do so (e.g., by asking questions and providing encouragement).
The key deliverable to be procured is a software solution that will automatically and accurately transcribe children’s speech.
We require the contract to commence by 9/8/2021.
