Overview

What we need

The New Zealand Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) provides intelligence relating to suspicious transactions, money laundering, terrorism financing and other serious offences. The FIU fulfils the functions and exercises powers of the Commissioner of Police as set out in the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (AML/CFT Act). The FIU helps the New Zealand government fulfil its obligations to the inter-governmental Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and the prevention and detection of serious crime.
In particular the FIU collects, collates and analyses information provided by reporting entities, including banks, financial institutions, lawyers, accountants and dealers in high value goods. Information and intelligence products are then sent to other investigative and intelligence units within the New Zealand Police and other government agencies. The FIU also work with 159 FIUs worldwide to share information and intelligence.
The FIU is currently reviewing its service delivery model with a view to more automation and self-service for the delivery of services and products. With this is mind the FIU are interested in hearing from providers of off-the-shelf technology solutions that:
• Better support the work of skilled intelligence analysts; and
• Enable end-users from the law enforcement community to self-service information.

What we don’t want

We are not looking for bespoke software development or solutions that are not technology based, such as training or the development of intelligence skills for analysts. We are not looking for new, unproven solutions.
