Overview

MPI (The Ministry) is a Maritime Transport Operator (operates under a Transport Operating Plan) and is responsible for a fleet of 30 vessels that comply with the provisions of the NZ Maritime Operator Safety System (MOSS). These vessels are used for sea patrolling across New Zealand and operate under three fishery sector groups (commercial, recreational, and customary). Each vessel must be in compliant working order to undertake the range of business activities in New Zealand waters consisting of both fresh and saltwater conditions, which encompasses fisheries patrols, surveillance and enforcement, multi-agency cooperation and maritime assistance.

The Ministry is seeking a nationwide solution for replacement vessels contracting directly with one or two key suppliers, strategically targeting long-term single supply arrangements (one for
supply of Large Vessel Replacements and one for supply of Small Vessel replacements). For the purposes of these requirements, vessels under 5m in length are defined as small vessels and vessels of 5.8 metres to a maximum of 7.5 metres are defined as large vessels.

Please note Respondents must complete a separate response form per vessel size, e.g. one for small vessels and one for large vessels even if bidding for both.
