National Interest Pest Responses (NIPR FRO) Pest Management Services

A major focus for Biosecurity New Zealand (BNZ) is eradicating or managing the impact of pests and diseases already present in New Zealand. Nine of these species are managed by the Pest Management Directorate of BNZ through the National Interest Pest Responses (NIPR) Programme.

Four of the NIPR species (water hyacinth, salvinia, Cape tulip and Johnson grass - collectively known as the Four Risk Organisms - FRO) are the subject of this procurement for operational services. The goal of the NIPR FRO programme is eradication of these four species from New Zealand.
