The Biosecurity Act 1993 (the Act) Review has been in progress since July 2019. The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has engaged with Māori and stakeholders to develop policy proposals and a draft discussion document. The Minister for Biosecurity has agreed that MPI will strengthen policy analysis on important policy issues in 2023. This includes undertaking Cost Benefit Analyses to initially assess the potential impacts of the policy proposals.
