MPI are seeking a solution that provides a validated alternative to purely-ground based forest carbon stock determination. Currently data that is used to calculate Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) carbon stocks and New Zealand’s National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory on Forest Lands in the Land use and Carbon Analysis System (LUCAS), is collected by ground-based field measurements. MPI are interested in testing alternative methods to improve data collection efficiency and accuracy.
