Overview

Biosecurity New Zealand (BNZ) Tiakitanga Pūtaiao Aotearoa, a business unit within the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), leads the country’s biosecurity system and spearheads MPI’s work to protect New Zealand from new and emerging exotic pests and diseases that pose a risk to our economy, environment, human health, and social and cultural wellbeing, including taonga species, such as our irreplaceable native plants.

This specific project, through the establishment of an additional L3B Post Entry Quarantine facility, will increase MPI’s present Post-entry Quarantine capacity. Such a facility must be specified, constructed and maintained to ensure that plant material held within the facility and any biosecurity risks associated with them are always effectively managed to ensure containment.

This is a Future Procurement Opportunity (FPO). A FPO has replaced the Annual Procurement Plan information previously available to suppliers on MBIE’s website. A FPO is an alert to suppliers of potential upcoming procurement activity. It does not represent a commitment by MPI to procure, but provides an indication to the market about the potential future activity.

Suppliers can subscribe to this FPO, and MPI may use this list to assist with market research. When the RFx is released, the FPO will be linked to the RFx so that those suppliers who have subscribed to the FPO will get automatically notified of the RFx being released.

We do anticipate releasing the RFT in late February 2021 and to aid in your preparation and planning for the future tender to select our ECI resource for the project. MPI is prepared to respond to requests for additional information but Respondents must note that answers to those answers could be used to update the future tender documents to be provided with the subsequent RFT.
