An earlier research programme conducted by MPI identified and mapped a range of subcomponents of environmental values around New Zealand’s coastline. The resulting dataset comprises 14 attributes of marine environmental subcomponents, derived from over 200 spatially explicit data sources. This work is to update this data set, including the identity, characteristics and locations of important coastal values, to maintain their accuracy and utility.
