Overview

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) seeks to engage with providers capable of using improved technology to show potential solutions for better animal tracking and further develop the viability of the technology. This technology is intended to be used to make compliance with NAIT Act requirements easier without increasing costs.

MPI is seeking to substantiate that the emerging technology that exists for tracking farm animals is robust and ready for commercialisation so that the requirement of farmers to track their animal movements can be automated. MPI also seeks to prove that the cost of using the technology will be cost effective for farmers by reducing the time required and being similar to the current costs to meet compliance obligations, and also that the technology can provide additional benefits for farm management through the inherent tracking technology.

The proof of concept for tracking animals will need to be completed through a field trial arranged by you in a working farm environment. MPI cannot assist with access to facilities.
