We are seeking a designer and manufacturer to create and produce Leaders’ Garments for APEC 2021.

For the APEC Leaders’ Meeting in November 2021, in addition to a formal gift, it is customary for the host economy to create a garment (traditionally a shirt/top) to gift to APEC Economy Leaders’ that reflects their traditional attire or culture. This is an important APEC custom and one New Zealand feels it is important to maintain in our virtual host year.

The invitation to wear a garment that reflects cultural aspects of the host economy is sharing something we value with our guests. It demonstrates manaakitanga and acknowledges our gratitude and respect for the shared mahi and collaboration undertaken and achieved together across the year. It also creates a physical touchpoint and a tangible shared experience to join people together in this year of virtual connection. All of these elements reflect our overall narrative to Join, Work, Grow. Together. This attire is worn by Leaders for the Leaders’ Retreat and will be seen most prominently in the video & photo coverage of the Leaders for the reading of the Declaration and for the official photograph.

This is the most important media opportunity of the Leaders’ meeting, which provides us with a moment to profile New Zealand culture and tell a story that enhances Brand NZ.
