The New Zealand Government has partnered with the Government of Tokelau to support the Tokelau Department of Health. The adviser will play a key role in a new Activity within the New Zealand Aid Programme to Strengthen Health Services on Tokelau.
The key objective of the first phase of the Adviser’s services is developing a health strategy and implementation plan.
The Adviser will spend several months developing a long-term health strategy and draft implementation plan, starting with consultations on the recommendations in the 2019 independent review of Tokelau’s clinical health services and patient referral scheme with Tokelau Director of Health and other stakeholders. This will include estimating costs and resourcing requirements, sequencing work, and scoping the assistance which will be required by the Department of Health and the village councils (Taupulega) to implement the approved 2019 review recommendations. After approval of the strategy and plans, the Adviser will provide technical assistance to the Tokelau Director of Health and village councils to implement them.
This role will appeal if you are interested in being part of a programme that directly contributes to the improving health outcomes in Tokelau. The initial assignment will be for up to 3 years. Given the COVID-19 pandemic the Adviser will work from their home location until it becomes possible to travel to Tokelau. Anticipated start date ASAP.
