Overview

In February 2018, Tropical Cyclone Gita caused widespread damage across Tonga, including destroying Tonga’s Parliament House and damaging the Office of the Legislative Assembly which was subsequently condemned.

In partnership with Tonga and Australia, the New Zealand government has agreed to support the rebuild of Tonga’s Parliament House and Office of Legislative Assembly (subject to funding approval). Both buildings serve essential functions in supporting democratic processes in Tonga. Together with our partners, New Zealand intends to support the rebuild of a fit-for-purpose and climate resilient Parliament House and Office of the Legislative Assembly that enable a modern Tongan Parliament to function and govern effectively.
• Two-year term, full time (potential to extend)
• To be based in Nuku’alofa, Tonga – Mid February 2020 start date
• New Zealand Aid Programme

The Project Co-ordinator - Infrastructure role will assist with the effective delivery of New Zealand’s official development assistance through the management of the Tonga Parliament House Reconstruction Project (Activity). This role will appeal if you are interested in being part of a programme that directly contributes to the enhancement of local communities in Tonga.
