Overview

The New Zealand Government has partnered with the Government of Kiribati to support development and management of its domestic longline fleet and provide monitoring of the fleet management. The Adviser will be accountable to the Kiribati Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resource Development and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on technical delivery of the Program. The key objectives of this role are to assist with the management and operation of the fleets; facility training and capacity building of the fleet manager, officers and crews; contribute to the operation of the vessels; and advise on and support amendments to management and operation model as and when identified appropriate.
• One-year term, full time (potential second year, full time may be agreed subject to availability of funding)
• Residential in Tarawa – Early 2020 start date
• New Zealand Government support programme

This role will appeal if you are interested in being part of a programme that directly contributes to the enhancement of local communities in Kiribati. The initial assignment will be for a period of one year, full time spent working with the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development in Kiribati (potential second year, full time may be agreed subject to availability of funding). A possible extension of up to a further two years on a fly-in-fly-out basis may be considered following the initial two years
