In 2021 New Zealand will host the largest gathering of trading economies, leaders and media in the Asia-Pacific region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is the lead agency for all of the policy and logistics related to hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2021. We (the Ministry) are responsible for implementing a technology solution which meets the specifications and guidelines as outlined by the APEC Secretariat. The purpose of this solution is to provide a smooth, seamless and secure experience for the delegates, workforce, media and volunteers who attend APEC in some capacity.
The 12 months of hosting begins in December 2020 and ends in November 2021.
APEC typically attracts 18,000-22,000 people throughout the hosting year. This includes Regional Leaders and business leaders, Ministers, senior officials, youth and media from 21 economies, to around 30 APEC events, culminating in the arrival of 20 Regional Leaders for the APEC Leaders’ Summit. The APEC Leaders’ Summit is hosted by the Prime Minister of New Zealand. Approximately half of all participants come for the Leaders’ week.
New Zealand will host a secure, high-quality APEC that showcases the best of our products, services and world-class innovation, and that further strengthens our reputation as a destination for successful major events. The registration and accreditation system will give APEC participants an immediate impression of the quality, substance and experience of APEC in New Zealand.
What we need:
The Ministry is seeking Registrations of Interest (ROI) from suitably qualified and experienced suppliers/consortia to provide the following:
• An online registration and accreditation solution
• Access control technology to provide secure point of entry access to APEC venues
• Host economy website
• Event Management Software to support the APEC21 Operations Team in running a successful event.
Due to the nature of the meetings and the profile of people attending, a high level of security is expected and required.
