Overview

Matauri Bay School is a rural Year 1-8 school located at 2223-2231 Whakarara Road, Matauri Bay, Northland. The project comprises refurbishment and alteration works to Blocks 1, 5 and 6 to address identified lifecycle, weathertightness, accessibility, fire safety and building envelope deficiencies. The works include roof replacement, cladding replacement, asbestos remediation, replacement joinery, ceiling replacement, insulation upgrades, flooring replacement, administration reconfiguration and accessibility improvements

Refurbished and modernised teaching, administration and support spaces within Blocks 1, 5 and 6 that are safe, compliant, weather-tight and fit for purpose.
• Renewal of ageing building elements including roofing, external cladding, windows, doors, ceilings, flooring and insulation to extend asset life and reduce future maintenance requirements.
• Improved building performance through upgraded thermal envelope components, replacement joinery, ceiling systems and insulation in accordance with current Ministry of Education standards.
• Improved accessibility through the construction of a new compliant entrance, decking and accessible ramp.
• Enhanced administration facilities including alterations to administration spaces, Principal's office, sickbay and storage area.
• Safe Removal and replacement of asbestos-containing building elements.
• A staged construction programme that allows the school to remain operational throughout the works while maintaining safety for students, staff and visitors.
