Overview

The outcome sought from this procurement is the securing of the services of a suitably qualified and experienced main contractor to undertake the proposed Site: drainage works. The Kura’s original 5YA project scope included a drainage works design project. The system has had urgent remediation works undertaken already and the design of the new drainage system is complete. Due to the location of the proposed works and potential for disruption of the Kura’s operations, the contract works must be delivered during school holidays.

The proposed scope includes the replacement of existing concrete paving to direct surface water towards new overland flow paths between Blocks 2, 3 & 5. The existing covered way path currently acts like a dam preventing surface water to flow through the natural flow path, so grated channels are proposed to allow water to escape when the surface flow exceeds the capacity of the existing catchpit. Additional ground contouring is proposed to deflect surface water from the area and instead direct to an existing adjacent catchpit and drainage network. Additionally, there are several areas of replacement drainage works required following a recent CCTV of the existing drains at the Kura. There is also some remedial wastewater drainage required, including the installation of new access chambers to resolve a sharp bend in the existing WW drainage infrastructure that has a tendency to block regularly.
