Whareama School’s Ten Year Property Plan has identified a number of roofing improvements to various buildings across the school which includes roof coverings, flashings, spouting and downpipe renewal.

Non trafficable roof sheets are also to be removed and replaced with an appropriate trafficable and heavy duty translucent roofing product, laid over safety mesh. In some areas timber cladding will require removal and reinstatement to allow for the installation of new apron flashings.

In addition to these works high level windows will be removed and replaced, fitted with new winders. Two new skylights are also to be supplied and installed.

• Key risks to the project are
- Safety of all students and staff during construction with works covering all areas of the school site
- Encountering and dealing with any asbestos containing material that could be identified before or during construction
- Weather protection and temporary works required to minimise/eliminate damage to interior parts of the building
