Mornington School is located in the hill suburbs of Dunedin. The school provides education for students in years 1 – 6. The roof & wall cladding systems to Block C have surpassed their economic design life and require replacement.
Block C dates from the 1970s and contains 4 teaching spaces.
This request is to complete the Stage 2 weathertightness remediation of Block C at Mornington School & provide decanting through a 2 Teaching Space relocatable building.
Decanting works (2 Teaching Space Relocatable):
To ensure safe delivery and continuity of learning, the project includes relocating 2x Teaching Space building/s to Mornington School to provide decanting during the Weathertightness Works. The proposal is to relocate an existing relocatable building/s from Taieri College to Mornington School, connect services, and keep them in place until all weathertightness works at the school are complete.
Block C Weathertightness Works:
• Replace entire roof structure: Remove existing rafters and membrane/internal gutter system.
• New warm roof system: Install new perimeter timber beams on existing exterior walls to support timber roof trusses; finish with long run metal roofing to eliminate reliance on membranes and internal gutters and improve roof falls and drainage robustness.
• Full recladding of the building to address systemic envelope issues, integrate new flashings/air barriers, and ensure continuity of weathertight systems.
• Replace all windows and doors to current performance standards and ensure integration with new cladding systems.
