Overview

Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Whānau Tahi (the Kura) is a composite Year 1–13 kura located at 83 Lyttelton Street, Christchurch. The Kura is currently experiencing sustained student growth alongside ongoing building condition and functional performance issues across parts of the existing estate.
The Lyttelton Street site is a former industrial landfill site that has been capped with substantial soil and gravel layers. While there is no identified safety risk, The ministry has considered this and are moving the school to 77 Murphies road therefore a redevelopment and site infrastructure are required on the new site to host the new home of the Kura..
The project comprises the demolition of selected existing buildings, refurbishment of retained buildings, and the delivery of a series of new teaching, specialist, and community facilities. The works also include significant site infrastructure upgrades and external works to support long term operation of the Kura. Development is planned to provide capacity for a future roll of approximately 350 students, equating to 25 teaching spaces.
