The Southland Girls' High School Board of Trustees is looking for an experienced main Contractor to complete the modernisation of the Block B ground floor laboratory and teaching spaces at their school. The project is part of a wider redevelopment of the entire science faculty (Blocks B, C grounds floors) spaces. This has resulted in this project being considered as Stage 1 (and or 2) of a multi staged on going redevelopment to be programmed as part of this current and future 10YPPs as funding allows. The premise of future teaching space layouts is based around rationalising laboratory spaces to become shared spaces between classrooms as well as amalgamation of office spaces and resource storage rooms.
Stage 1 is for the remodelling of the first (south end) teaching spaces (B8) and resource rooms (Spaces 15,16) to create a classroom and adjoining laboratory. Work also includes creating an internal opening into the adjacent classroom (Space B9) in order to have internal access to the laboratory from classrooms either side. Stage 1 also includes basic remodelling to the adjacent corridor circulation space as well as fire rating to the adjacent stairwell and between floor ceiling spaces.
Stage 2 is to follow in sequence for construction and includes remodelling of the remaining two (north end teaching spaces (B9,10) and resource room (Space 17) & office (Space 21), as well as a remodelling the corridor circulation space and fire rating to between floors as a continuation of Stage 1.
PLEASE NOTE: Stages One and Two MUST be priced individually as there is no guarantee that Stage 2 will proceed, this will depend solely on the availability of additional funding that is not currently confirmed.
Work includes traditional reaching spaces and laboratory remodelling including demolition, new internal aluminum windows and doors, wall linings, grid ceilings, carpentry (including fire rating), floor coverings and associated gas, electrical and mechanical services. Also included in new laboratory joinery.
