Aotea College is the largest secondary school in Porirua city with a roll of 1333 in March 2025. The school is zoned and draws students mainly from the nine contributing full primary schools. In 2025 it was announced that Aotea College revised project scope is 16 Roll Growth Classrooms. Noting that the 16 Roll Growth Classrooms are split into multiple stages and the Design and Build contractor we are seeking is for Stage 3 only.
Outcome sought
The outcome sought from this tender is to engage a Design and Build contractor to support Stage 3 at Aotea College, with the delivery of the required scope below:
• 520m2 gross maximum New Build, 3x Specialist Technology Space
• Single Storey incl Resource Room, Machine Room, Storage and WC provision
• Project Total Budget and maximum cost for delivery is $2,550,000 (including design and all associated sub-consultancy fees)
• Stage 3 Specialist Technology Building 520m2 gross approx, noting the Specialist Teaching Spaces will need to be 105 sqm net
• Single cell classrooms, the interior layout will be as agreed with the school
A tender site visit has been scheduled for 10am 18 December 2025 and the tender closing date is 20 February 2026. Additional site visits can be arranged on request.
