Overview

This RFT is to procure the Design & Build provision of underfloor insulation to the occupied parts of Level 3 at Albany Senior High School.

Constructed in 2009 and opened in 2010, the main building at ASHS sits over two levels of carpark. At this time there is no insulation separating the unconditioned carpark areas from the lower occupied level (Level 3) and the floor slab temperatures in winter in Level 3 are too low for an occupied space. The Level 3 slab is primarily of double-tee slab construction, as indicated in the attached marked-up sketches, which use the original structural drawings as their basis.

The aim of this work is to provide thermal separation of the occupied Level 3 areas from the carpark and Bus Bay below, aiming to comply with current NZBC H1 R-values for floors in Auckland, thus significantly improving heat retention in Level 3 and allowing the majority of the Level 3 interior floor surface to reach and maintain 18ÂșC in winter during the morning warm-up period.
