Otorohanga College BOT is seeking a Main Contractor to undertake the refurbish the existing L Block (currently a library) into their new Science Laboratory. The existing Science Laboratories are currently housed in C Block which is in a very poor state of repair and currently going through the building disposal process through the Ministry. The existing library housed in L Block is a large open plan space with central offices, is a more modern building and is positioned centrally on the school grounds which suits the high use that science laboratories require. An existing prefab currently unused on site has been refurbished to be the new library space. L Block is situated off the Hinewai St side of the site so is easily separated off from the rest of the school during construction. The Scope of Works for this procurement consists of, but not limited to, the following:
i. Internal demolition of the existing partition walls ceilings and linings including four new entry doors cut into the brick walls and cutting out and replacing part of the floor for drainage requirements of the new laboratories.
ii. Roof to remain but cleaned, repaired, rescrewed and painted. Exterior cladding to be painted including brickwork and asbestos panels.
iii. New lintels and beams for the four new openings and for the new sliding dividing walls in each space along with a new lintel for the Food Safe space.
iv. All the exterior joinery is to be replaced with new aluminium doors and windows with the windows on electrical actuators.
v. New wiring, power, lighting, fire and mechanical throughout with the existing Low Pressure Hot Water system being decommissioned and removed from the building as part of the services trades scope.
vi. Supply and installation of science laboratory chemical resistant benches, sinks and bottle traps along with dump shower and associated laboratory fittings and fixtures.
vii. Supply and install of wastewater pump station and controls due to site infrastructure issues.
