Standardisation Programme – Sub-Consultant Services and Potential Additional Requirements – Building Services Stream
The Ministry’s standardisation programme aims to begin the development of a series of standard building designs and classroom layouts that can be used across the country and achieve value for the Ministry, communities and schools.
The outcome for this project is the development of at least six building typologies, and a coordinated set of classroom layouts that can be used in projects going forward. Future phases will further refine and develop the detail of our standard designs.
A procurement process has been undertaken previously to engage four Lead Designer suppliers to design school building designs and layouts. Each Lead Designer has been awarded a different design package, for either building designs or building layouts. The Lead Designers will collaborate both with each other, and with the Ministry to produce the designs and layouts.
Sub-consultancy services are to be procured to assist the Lead Designers in structural, acoustic, fire and building services.
Two structural engineering services are intended to be engaged. One supplier is intended to assist with design for school/kura gymnasiums and halls. The other supplier is intended to assist with design for teaching and administration blocks. A single supplier is to be engaged for acoustic, fire and building services.
