Hon Erica Stanford has announced the creation of a new school at Rolleston due to increasing rolls at Lemonwood Grove and West Rolleston Primary Schools. Rolleston South Primary School is required to be operational for the first day of Term 1, 2026.

The scope originally comprised of 12-teaching spaces with two teaching-spaces initially used for administration. These two teaching-spaces will change to be teaching spaces once further stages of development are undertaken at the school. A change request has been completed to add to the scope a administration and library building.
