Existing 5 building blocks at Hukanui school are cladded in shadow cladding which is causing water ingress and deterioration the building. Due to these weathertightness issues the buildings are unusable by the school and students. Weathertightness remediation works are required to Blocks B, G, N, P & R to get the buildings to a usable and healthy condition. The project is currently proposed to be split into 2 stages covering 3 Blocks (B, N & R) in first stage which is identified as minimal works with the second stage to include the remaining 2 Blocks (G & P) with more extensive works. Actual work currently planned to begin on site in October 2022 with handover to the school anticipated to be March 2023. All the hazardous work to be carried out in the school holidays or weekends when there are no kids in the premises.
