Wellington High School is comprised of concrete and steel structured predominately multi storey buildings constructed in the early 1980’s.
The site is inner city and therefore constrained in size with most of its site covered by buildings and/or paving.
The little green space they have is unusable tree covered steep banks/hillside and a small field. In winter the field is weather affected and can only be used for a small percentage of time.
The project will develop an artificial sports turf over most of the field to provide a soccer pitch which can be used all year round.
The work will excavate the surface to 300 mm depth, lay subsoil drainage and compacted metal fill and overlay the entire area with an artificial sports turf including line markings. The perimeter will either be concrete poured or a shallow concrete dish drain. Some fencing is required between the turf and temporary classrooms.
The scheme will be traditionally executed with a full design team employed by the Wellington High School Board of Trustees producing full construction documentation.
