Block 1 Wooden Window joinery is degraded, and most windows cannot open or close as designed. Maintenance over the years has preserved the joinery as long as practically possible but they have reached the end of their lifespan and require replacement to ensure the present and future integrity of the building fabric.

The Contract Works required are:
• Remove existing wooden joinery and glazing in Block 1 (rooms 1-8) and replace with new aluminium joinery and glazing as per Building code E2
• Make good cladding damaged during removal.
• Install new head and sill flashing
• Wall underlay dressed into openings with flexible flashing tape at corner
