Registrations are sought from Companies with a good track and Health and Safety record with no less than three years recent experience undertaking projects of a similar size/nature to the requirements.
Takapuna School is a contributing Primary School on the North Shore of Auckland. As part of the Schools 5 Year Property plan, the various ILE and Fire & Security Works are proposed.
It is proposed that the works will be carried out as a single project while the School is operating, albeit disruptive or work affected by the removal, handling and disposal of existing asbestos must be carried out outside of school hours when pupils and staff are not present with the likely scenario that this would happen during weekend or a school holiday periods.
ILE/DQLS works to Main Block 1, Classrooms 5, 6 + 7
The proposal is to open the walls between Classrooms 5,6+7 to create collaborative learning areas as was done in the last stage, just leaving the braced sections of the walls upgraded as part of an earlier seismic upgrade project. The walls to the corridor will also be removed to incorporate this area into the learning area and for a new shared resource area with associated staff facility, breakout space and wet area.
A small increase of 7.2m2 net will be required which essentially fills in and makes good use of an alcove area that currently exists. It is proposed that work will include upgrading of the classrooms to meet DQLS standards for acoustics, ventilation, insulation, flooring, pinboard, lighting, data, electrics etc. along with a reduced ceiling height where practicable and budget allows. There is possibly an element of asbestos present that will require an approved plan for removal, handling and disposal.
Fire & Security in Block 1, Classrooms 7 & 8.
Provision of Intruder/smoke detection in Block 1 classrooms 7+8 plus staffroom. The Fire + Security Systems report advises that these areas are currently without coverage. It is also intended that at the same time the proposed ILE works to Block 1 Classrooms 5,6+7 are carried out, Type 4 Fire Alarm enabling aspects for future provision are included.
It is proposed that all the above works will be carried out in conjunction with the pending Block 1 ILE/upgrading works projects as they are implemented.
