The Te Putahitanga o Te Rukenga o Nga Wai (the Buyer) is seeking a Main Building Contractor with proven
expertise, experience, skills for the construction of an Early Childhood Centre (Puna Kohungahunga).
Organisations wishing to be considered as potential Main Building Contractor to the ECE must provide
evidence that they have the experience and expertise necessary to deliver the service required.
The ECE will be built on the Te Wharekura o Manaia school site under a lease with the school Board of
Trustees.
The project involves, but is not limited to, the following:
 The construction of an Early Childhood Centre that will accommodate 50 students
(316m2).
 Separate spaces for the age group of under 2’s and separate spaces for 2’s to 5’s.
 Separate sleeping spaces for both age groups.
 A dedicated whanau space with a kitchen.
 A dedicated wet room and separate laundry.
 An outdoor space/deck area that enables outdoor activities (159m2)
 Building is linked to the existing deck.
 Separate access and carpark (390m2) to the site.
 Timber fencing to site (100m).
 The building is to be located on the North West corner of the school site.
New spaces have been developed to ensure optimal use of the layout and services. The project is required
to provide a variety of quality resources and learning settings and experiences to meet the needs of the
school.
