This opportunity relates to the delivery of after-hours and urgent care services for Central Otago. New and improved after-hours and urgent care services are being implemented in the context of other new and/or changing primary care initiatives including expanded digital teleconsultation solutions and changes to PHO accountabilities and funding settings. Health NZ expects after-hours and urgent care providers to work collaboratively and in good faith with Health NZ, PHO's, primary and community care providers including general practices and emergency departments to deliver accessible services.

The New and Improves Urgent and After-hours Care Framework (the framework) was published in May 2025. This is attached and forms part of this RFP. The framework describes urgent and after-hours care service types, based on population, geographic and community characteristics. The framework is intended to provide minimum expectations only - Health NZ and providers can agree variations, adaptations and additional features based on local demand.
