Overview

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) is seeking proposals from suitably qualified providers to establish and deliver an After-Hours and Urgent Care service for the Taupō community. The successful provider must deliver a sustainable, community-based model of urgent and after-hours care from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm on weekdays, and from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on weekends and public holidays. The service must improve access to healthcare closer to home, integrate with the local health system, and contribute to improved health outcomes for the Taupō population. It must align with Health NZ’s priorities of improving access to health services, strengthening primary and community care, and reducing pressure on hospital services.

This is an opportunity to partner with Health NZ to close identified gaps in access to urgent healthcare, diagnostics and medicines outside standard business hours. The successful provider will play a central role in giving the Taupō community reliable access to the care it needs, when it needs it.

Tenders close at 12pm Monday 7 December 2026 and must be submitted electronically via GETS.
