Overview

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites tenders from suitably qualified mechanical and plumbing contractors for the Measure & Value (M&V) replacement of ageing domestic hot and cold water pipework at Ashburton Hospital.

The Works comprise the staged isolation, removal, and replacement of selected domestic hot water (DHW flow and return) and cold water (CW) pipework located within basement plant rooms, service tunnels, and selected ceiling and plant areas. The scope includes associated valves, fittings, reducers, supports, interfaces with existing systems, testing, flushing, commissioning, and handover documentation.

The Works arise from historical pipe failures associated with corrosion and ageing services and form part of a planned infrastructure renewal programme. All works will be undertaken within a live hospital environment and will require careful coordination with hospital operations to minimise disruption. System shutdowns will be required, with a proportion of works expected to be undertaken outside normal working hours.

The Works are tendered on a Measure & Value basis utilising a detailed pricing schedule. Tenderers are required to submit unit rates for two material options: Stainless Steel and PPR (Polypropylene Random Copolymer). Quantities provided are indicative only, with final installed quantities to be measured and agreed onsite during delivery.

The proposed form of contract is the Health New Zealand Medium Works Contract (Measure & Value), together with a project-specific Preliminaries & General (P&G) Specification. Seismic restraint is included for all new pipework installed under this contract and shall conform to applicable standards.
