Overview

This Request for Tenders is an invitation to submit a Tender in response to the Southland Hospital Generator Connection Points contract opportunity.

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora – Southern is sourcing a Main Electrical Contractor capable of providing a uniform and reliable method for temporarily connecting hired generators to each of the Main Switch Boards while maintaining uninterrupted clinical operations.

The contracted Works will include:
• Installing dedicated generator connection points at each Main Switchboard
• Standardising and simplifying the interface for hired or backup generators
• Enabling rapid switchover during unplanned outages and smoother transitions for planned maintenance
• Furnishing and installing a new Main Switchboard to Transformer TX91 to balance load distribution in the southwest site quadrant and support future expansion

Contractors will be working within a live hospital environment and will need robust methodologies and programmes to effectively manage the requirements and constraints that this creates.

The anticipated dates are:
Main Works Construction Start | January 2026
Main Works Completion | March 2026
