We are seeking a proposal for the delivery of a Nikau Hauora Hub, a peer-led, mental health and addiction hauora wellbeing hub that provides affirming, culturally grounded, holistic support for tāngata whaiora and their whānau. The proposed service will be peer-governed and responsive to the needs of priority groups, with a strong focus on access and outcomes for Māori and other priority populations. It will be focused and underpinned by a partnered and collaborative model of care that prioritises equity, cultural safety, affirming approaches and community leadership. This approach ensures comprehensive and holistic support for tāngata whaiora and their whānau, fostering mana-enhancing, strengths-based relationships across the continuum of care.
This proposal also includes premises that are centrally located in Whakatū (Nelson), easily accessible by public transport and close to other health and support services. It must include a fully equipped kitchen that meets all Nelson City Council food safety and hygiene regulations for preparing meals for large groups. The facility should currently support service delivery five days a week, with the capacity and infrastructure to expand to seven days a week and operate 24/7 in the future.
