Upcoming Procurement Opportunity: Mental Health and Addiction Community Sector Innovation Fund - Round 2
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora intends to launch a procurement process to select providers for Round 2 of the Mental Health and Addiction Community Sector Innovation Fund ("the Innovation Fund").
Following feedback from the sector, the Minister for Mental Health recently announced that for Round 2 of the Innovation Fund, the minimum funding limit for the matched funding requirement would decrease to $100,000 so more NGOs will benefit. https://www.beehive.govt.nz/release/funding-limit-change-win-mental-health-sector
This fund is to support innovative, time-limited projects and initiatives that aim to improve mental health outcomes across Aotearoa New Zealand. It will be open to NGOs and community-based mental health and addiction providers, including iwi-based and other kaupapa Māori organisations.
Key features:
• The Innovation Fund will provide time-limited government funding for innovative projects that demonstrate the potential to improve mental health outcomes.
• Eligible providers must show how their initiative meets the fund’s criteria and aligns with the goals of the Innovation Fund. Health New Zealand will be publishing clarity around the Social Return on Investment report requirements.
More information about the fund and its requirements is available at:
Innovation Fund Information
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora intends to run an open, competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Once the RFP is released, interested providers will be invited to submit proposals demonstrating how their initiative meets the Innovation Fund criteria.
Indicative timeframes
The full submission criteria and RFP process will be published on GETS in early to mid May 2025, with contracts for round one expected to be in place in Quarter One of the 2025/26 financial year (July-September 2025).
Note
This is an FPO. An FPO is an alert to providers of a potential upcoming procurement activity, though it does not represent a commitment by Health NZ to procure.
Health NZ has provided further information and frequently asked questions and answers regarding the Innovation Fund on the following website: https://www.tewhatuora.govt.nz/health-services-and-programmes/mental-health-and-addiction/community-sector-innovation-fund
When the RFP is live, interested stakeholders will only be able to ask questions via GETS and answers will only be published via GETS.
