Overview

Further to the future procurement opportunity released late 2022, Health Promotion Te Whatu Ora is now releasing the request for proposals seeking a Kaupapa Māori partner to conduct media monitoring, manage media grants and moderate social media accounts for Nōku te Ao Like Minds. This mahi requires kaupapa Māori, lived experience and media expertise, and we recommend collaborating with other organisations to collectively hold this experience if required.

Nōku te Ao Like Minds works to increase social inclusion and reduce prejudice and discrimination for people with lived experience of severe mental distress, prioritising those who are most affected by mental distress and who often experience multiple forms of discrimination. Our vision is for all people to uphold the mana and human rights of people with experience of mental distress. You can find more information about the programme at www.nokuteao.org.nz.

We wish to engage an organisation that will weave together kaupapa Māori principles and lived experience wisdoms to support journalists and media organisations to change the way we collectively think, talk about and report on mental health and addiction. We are seeking an organisation to:
• Monitor media publications (including by Māori and Pacific media)
• Create and promote guidelines to enable strengths-based, evidence-informed mental health and addiction reporting
• Shine a spotlight on exemplary mental health reporting
• Manage grants that enable lived experience communities to tell their own stories
• Monitor engagement on Nōku te Ao social media channels.

We will select a provider who can strategically influence conversations across Aotearoa New Zealand to increase social inclusion and reduce prejudice and discrimination for people with lived experience of severe mental distress.

We are offering individual question and answer Zoom sessions. Please register for these by 27 March via our Point of Contact.
Questions can also be submitted via GETS.
