This is an Advance Notice to inform suppliers of the anticipated timeline for an upcoming closed Request for Proposal (RFP) process for Hawke's Bay Regional Prison High Security Units - Cooling Project.
The High Security Units (HM) provide high security accommodation at Hawke's Bay Regional Prison (HBRP). There are 6x HM units and each unit comprises of 3x wings, each wing can have 8 to 12 cells.
The HM units at HBRP suffer from overheating during summer. HBRP has identified this as a key issue that could impact its ability to accommodate High Security prisoners.
The Department of Corrections (the Department) has carried out a review of these facilities and identified in-cell air conditioning units as the approved solution.
The Department is seeking a Main Contractor to manage and complete all the works with minimal disruption to prison operations. The Department intends to release the RFP on GETS the week beginning 28 April 2025.
