At Watercare, we are accelerating a customer-centred digital transformation programme that modernises our customer, stakeholder, and billing systems. By moving toward an integrated, cloud-ready technology ecosystem, we can deliver simpler, more reliable, and more transparent experiences for our customers while improving the quality and consistency of the data we rely on every day.
This transformation will enable Watercare to reduce manual processes, provide clearer insights to customers about their water use, improve billing accuracy, and strengthen responsiveness across all service channels. Importantly, it positions us to meet and demonstrate compliance with emerging regulatory expectations—supporting better decision-making, greater operational efficiency, and consistent delivery of safe, affordable, customer-focused outcomes for Aucklanders.

Thank you for your ROI submission and for the time and effort invested in the process.
We appreciate your patience while we completed a detailed internal review and assessment. Given the number of submissions received and the level of evaluation required, the process has taken longer than originally anticipated.
As outlined in the ROI, this stage was intended to assess available market options and their suitability for Watercare, with the objective of identifying participants who may be invited to participate in a subsequent Request for Proposal (RFP).
With the assessment now complete, our next step is to validate its outcomes against Watercare's Reference Architecture, which is currently in development. This will confirm that the priorities identified are consistent with our target-state architecture before we commit to a sequence of investment. We expect this to conclude in September, at which point we will confirm our next steps on the procurement process.
