Overview

Suitably qualified and experienced contractors are invited to tender for the construction of the burial expansion works at the existing Waherekau Maketu Cemetery.

This project is a continuation of the existing burial site and comprises of traffic control, erosion and sediment controls, site set out, earthworks, concrete capped stone terrace retaining walls, concrete footings and walkways, concrete garden edging, continuation of the existing concrete access road, landscaping works, vegetated swales and precast stormwater soakage manholes, and as-builts.

What we require:
The bulk of the construction works requires cutting terraces into the ridge slopes of the proposed burial site to create new burial plots. These terraces shall be supported by concrete capped stone walls with concrete footing, to imitate the existing burial plots on the opposite side of the gully.
A new concrete road is required as an extension to the existing concrete access road. The construction works includes stripping topsoil and earthworks, importing suitable base material and constructing a new concrete pavement to follow the natural slope of the existing ridge.
Other construction works comprise the construction of concrete walkways for burial plots, concrete edging for the ash gardens, landscaping, and grassed swales along the northern and southern boundaries of the new site with the northern swale feeding into a soakage manhole.
