Overview

Western Bay of Plenty District Council (WBOPDC) has been working with the Katikati community to develop local cycleway networks. This project includes the need for a pedestrian / cycleway bridge over the Uretara Stream. Total span to connect from the footpath on the north side of the stream to the south side is approximately 45m.

The location chosen (on the old railway alignment), provides an excellent local history and story-telling opportunity.
It is hoped to begin bridge construction by June 2016, subject to obtaining Resource and building consents.

The Resource Consent application drafting process is now waiting the outcome of this RFP.
The bridge design should be attractive and/or have artistically themed elements (structural or non-structural) that are meaningful in the local area.

Council is managing this procurement in two stages:
• Stage 1 is an open Request for Proposal process. Please note the RFP questions close date. Received proposals are then evaluated by staff and presented to Council for a decision to select a “preferred proposal”.
• Stage 2 - Council staff work with the preferred contractor to develop detailed specifications and an agreed design build price under the umbrella of an NZS3916:2013 Design and Construct contract.
