Overview

The Contract works comprise:

Installing new trunk mains along old rail corridor in private property between Tanners Point Road and Tahawai Water Treatment Plant.
 Install 1800 meters of 355mmOD, PE 100, PN 12.5 polyethylene pipe trunk water main
 Installation method – open trench or directional drilling
 New water mains to be butt welded. Electro-Fusion couplers may be used to connect long strings of pipe (300 metres)
 Install any Tee’s, Valves, Hydrants and other fittings at identified locations
 Valves Hawle brand, Hydrants Gillies brand, Tee’s flanged ductile iron
 Supply all installation, testing, disinfection and commissioning of the new trunk water main.
 The supply of all Plant, Materials and Labour necessary to complete the Contract Works shown on the Drawings or described in the Specification and Schedule of Prices.
 Reinstatement to be to the satisfaction of the property owner and sign – off from each owner is required.
The work consists of the construction of new water reticulation assets and connection to existing mains.

The Contractor must make provision for the following:
 Provision and maintenance of traffic control and safety at Tanners Point Road
 The set out of the works and the location at all underground services
 Liaise with service authorities to locate, stormwater, water, power, gas and telecom cables
 Liaise with property owners as required, negotiate entry points and access through their property
 Liaise with other Authorities such as WestLink (ex Inroads), NZTA, Heritage NZ, Archaeologist, Iwi, Environment Bay of Plenty
 Comply with the Accidental Discovery Protocol for Historic Sites should any item of archaeological interest be found during the course of the contract
 Protect heritage site – old concrete bridge abutments in rail corridor
 Protect existing services and survey marks
 Disinfection and pressure testing of the pipelines
 Quality Assurance for all aspects of the Contract Works
 As-built documents of the works.
This is a measure and value contract to construct a new trunk water main.
