The objective(s) in releasing this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to identify a preferred supplier(s) to provide a tape library solution providing an on-premise “AWS S3/ Glacier” like storage platform service to:
• Support and enable the University’s Digital and “Cloud First” Hybrid Cloud strategies.
• Establish a new AWS S3 Object “cloud-native” storage service to support our cloud-first strategy & in support of our research initiatives.
• Provide new generation Tape technology to initially augment & then eventually replace the University’s four aged IBM tape libraries. These tape libraries are currently situated in the UoA Owen G Glen datacentre (OGG) and Tamaki datacentre (TDC) – with two libraries in each location. The end-state with the new hardware will be based in TDC plus a new 3rd-party datacentre – “CDC” – with OGG being largely decommissioned.
