The Tararua District Council in collaboration with Downer NZ, under the Tararua Alliance intends to go to market for the on-demand supply of aggregates to support its infrastructure maintenance and capital works programme.
A scope of services will be requested with material type and specifications. (NZTA M/04:2006)
Suppliers should consider production capacity, quality assurance, environmental compliance, resource consents, and local market outcomes and economic contribution. The Alliance is seeking to optimise inventory management, improve overall quality and align volumes more closely with operational demand across the region.
The contract will consider an on-demand, schedule of rates model with no guarantee of volume.

Further information:
We are writing to update the market on our upcoming aggregates supply procurement for the Tararua Alliance. As previously signalled, we had intended to go to market in the near term. However, considering the evolving fuel situation in New Zealand, ongoing price volatility, and uncertainty across international supply markets, we have decided to pause this process.
Given the current environment, we do not consider it prudent to proceed to the market currently, as pricing is unlikely to reflect stable or sustainable conditions.
Accordingly, we will be extending our existing incumbent contract on a short-term basis while we continue to monitor market conditions.
The approach is intended to provide continuity and security of supply while allowing time for the market to stabilise.
We remain committed to a fair and competitive procurement process and will reengage with the market once there are greater certainty and stability in pricing and supply conditions.
We appreciate your interest, understanding and ongoing engagement, and we will provide a further update in due course.
