Selwyn District Council |
Selwyn District Council expects to release a RFP shortly for the procurement of Design and Build services for a large basic shed/warehouse structure to house kerbside organics receival and decontamination processes.
Council are intending to seek a supplier who has the capability, experience, and appropriate track record to design and construct an enclosed building structure to house the organic materials receival and decontamination facility. It is anticipated that suppliers may offer standard designs and construction approaches may be appropriate for this project, suppliers with capability to deliver large sheds and similar buildings are encouraged to review the detailed specification when it is issued.
Location: Pines Resource Recovery Park, 183 Burnham School Road, Burnham, Canterbury
Size: Approx 30m x 35m x 8.4m (at apex)
Timing: Expect to award during March, with construction estimated to commence in May 2026
Other features:
- Utilise existing concrete pad as floor for structure. Foundations are to be independent.
- HVAC system to remove moisture generated from organics, as well as exhaust fumes from a loader, a mobile trommel and trucks tipping off
- 4 x large roller doors varying in width from 3.5m - 7m
- Incorporate some translucent roof panels for natural light
- Structure design to allow for weight of possible future solar panel addition
- Note: building structure and cladding will be protected internally utilising interblocs or similar (not a part of this procurement)
Kerbside tipping operations and organics processing will need to be maintained during construction on the remainder of existing concrete pad.
Supplier will need to obtain building consent and ensure that their proposal is compliant with resource consents/outline plan already obtained (these will be provided in RFP)
The RFP with detailed requirements will be issued via GETS, interested suppliers are encouraged to register on GETS to ensure they receive notification.
