Overview

As part of the LCLR Minor Works Programme QLDC has been considering improvements to key intersections within Wanaka. One such intersection is the Golf Course Road – Ballantyne Road intersection. This is the main project within this tender, however, the intersection of McDougall Street and Brownstown Street has also been proposed for improvements. Given potential interaction between the two intersections, particularly in terms of possible detour routes, the two projects have been combined into one tender.
QLDC’s main focus is to deliver the Golf Course Road – Ballantyne Road Intersection prior to the end of the current 3 year programme on 30 June 2027.
The proposed roundabout will also serve the future connection to the Three Parks development via a currently unnamed road. The roundabout is proposed in an elongated (peanut) form due to land restrictions, and will accommodate pedestrians on all arms and cyclists both on- and off- carriageway. To reduce entry and exit speeds ramps are proposed on all arms. As part of the works overhead power lines will be adjusted, and a section of a new watermain will be installed. Improved stormwater management will attenuate design flows in underground soakage tanks.
The second project is to complete the proposed roundabout McDougall/Brownston St.
QLDC is seeking a Contractor who has the resources and capability to manage and deliver both projects effectively.
